Cascade House

Cascade House is a luxury residential landscape conceived as a sculptural extension of the architecture and the surrounding landform. Rather than functioning as a traditional garden surrounding a home, the landscape becomes an immersive work of art—shaped by land, stone, water, and carefully composed botanical elements. The design is driven by a desire to create a sequence of outdoor spaces that feel timeless, grounded, and deeply connected to the site. Central to this experience are the sculptural courtyard mounds, which transform the landscape plane into a series of organic landforms that create movement, enclosure, and visual interest. These planted earth forms serve as living sculptures, softening the architecture while establishing intimate garden rooms that invite exploration and reflection.

A defining feature of Cascade House is the custom black basalt water feature, whose geometry is inspired by the natural topographic lines and contours of the land upon which the home rests. Carved as an architectural interpretation of the site’s existing rhythms, the water feature creates a dialogue between geology, water, and the built environment. This approach reflects Hawaiʻi Land & Garden Works’ broader design philosophy: creating landscapes that are not simply decorative, but experiential works of art that emerge from the character of the place itself. Through sculptural landforms, handcrafted stone elements, and site-responsive design, we strive to create landscapes where architecture and nature become inseparable—spaces that feel both intentionally crafted and inherently belonging to their environment.
